I want my 401k money and told by HD you can't have it! I was told I have to give a reason why.

They are wrong! If I didn't need this job I would quit! Maybe I should go to Lowes, where they pay more and you get a discount.

Hey is there like some sort of signal or something to indicate to HD employees that I really don't need their "help"? Typically when I go to HD, it's because I need something in a hurry, and typically HD won't have exactly what I need but I can usually piece together something that will work - if I am allowed to wander around and think for 15 or twenty minutes without being interrupted by well-meaning associates. I know what I'm doing, I know where most stuff is, if I want your help I'll make eye contact or ask. I mean, great job on the customer service, but yesterday I was approached at least a dozen times, ranging from a polite "Can I help you find something?" to the kind of in your face "WHAT ARE WE WORKIN ON TODAY PARDNER?". I'm maintaining a mental list, and when you interrupt my concentration things drop off of it. I know that I'm not alone in this, most people I know who make things or repair things or modify things feel the same way. There should be some kind of signal, like say a tape measure locked 4 inches out clipped to a pocket, that means "back off please".

OH,, by the way, for all Homedepot employees. In Arvada CO. we do not do much shopping at Homedepot no discounts for employees, so we go to LOWES, they give us a discount for being Homedepot employees, you might try that in your area.

how many of you guys received the results from the EOC survey taken in December? don't know about you, but i know for a fact 95% of associates said it blows at our store. our store manager actually believes that morale is great. DILLUSIONAL! associates are walking on pins and needles because you get written up for EVERYTHING--except the ass kissers of course. the MOST humiliating thing is GREETING! here, mr customer, your to stupid to find a cart for yourself and hey, i am a stupid associate-i can't do anything but stand at the door and say good morning, have an ad! lots of people in my store have been documenting everything; it's okay for one person to do something, but if somebody else does it, they are back in the principals office getting written up. management has made it a hostile work environment. hey frank blake---get your head out of your ass and look at what is going on in your stores!!!!

Store #7102 is run by a bargain basement fascist who considers independent thought to be a grounds for dismissal. Employee success is determined by ass-licking and treachery rather than competence - which explains volumes about the caliber of the subordinate management there. If you have any self-respect or sense of human dignity, save yourself the trouble of applying there, because they'll fire you for that sort of insubordination . . .

I have worked at home depot for 2 years now and i have seen some really scandalous shit going on with management and some employees throughout the store. for the most part work is fine but the management in store 470 absolutely sucks major dick! espessially RON ASM. they are constantly busting associates for being on their phones or talking to other associates (which is fine) but they need to practice what they preach. every manager in the store is always walking around with their stupid fag-berry phones emailing each other. also every time i see the male (married) managers they are always talking and bullshitting with the really young cute girls around the store. i have a bunch of low life managers in my store and its no wonder why so many associates want to beat the shit out of them! i know i do! well for those of you who dont work at home depot... know what you are getting into... if you are fine taking orders from 50 different people and dont mind the low paying rates.. go ahead and get hired. dont say i didn't warn you! PEACE!!!!!!

Ok seriously you fucking annoying people (especially foreigners). Use your brain to find shit on your own. This is why people complain about home depot, cause they are useless and EXPECT the best from the employees. Go to any other country and expect to get this good of service from anyone.

Watch out for John the manager. He is quiet and sneeky. I have never met anyone who is so cold as he is. I was let go today for not conforming 100% on my schedule. Everyone in my department is on the variance report including our department head. Hey if you can't keep your schedule than don't get on me. I believe I was let go because I wasa the highest paid part timer in my department. Now they can hire a much younger associate at half the pay who probably does not know anything about what he is doing. I was there for the whole six month period for their profit sharing which ended in January 2010 but now they get to keep it all. They also owe me several hours of sick time which they wont give me. There has to be a law to protect the employee against big business.

I suppose it's unfair to attack the corporation for the actions of an inept leadership team. Most of our problems stem from terrible employees. The business doesn't stop so your 'go-tos' are picking up the slack. This is when management should step in and eliminate the half-ass workers. I'm sure it's rare, but if you have a management team that is say 70% good, dedicated real people the store will reflect that eventually. The SM is pulling all the strings, i can assure you of that.

That said, I don't necessarily disagree with the other comments. There are many large and small scale problems. It's a large company, it's going to be very difficult to please everyone especially when moral is low throughout many stores.

Home Depot is about favoritism and treating their employees like crap, but expecting them to work double shifts or come in on their days off. It was the worst company I ever worked for. Then, after they fired me, they told Unemployment I quit. And after that, my Supervisor was giving me bad references making it difficult for me to get a job. I got a lawyer and sued the company for lying about my termination, and then I sued my Supervisor for the bad references. And I won because I never gave up. So it's true, they fight in a lawsuit, but you have to fight harder!! I was even offered my job back. I should have took it and quit on the spot lol!

As an employee at the all American retail store Home Depot inc., I was constantly harassed about the amount of credit applications completed daily (cards that would go to 31% interest after one missed payment), forced to lie to customers not only at the register but also at the returns desk, where home depot (and the fine print policy) rips off customers daily, bombarded with management whose job consisted of depriving employees of constitutional rights and creating an environment that is emotionally controlling and psycologically analyzed so that employees will do and say whatever the boss, manager, supervisor, head cashier says. During any one nightly unpack of items, the store could easily fill and pack 2-5 dumpsters of cardboard, plastic, and wasted packaging material that is mostly non-biodegradable. Extended warranties are a joke and usually result in the customer calling a hotline, waiting 2 hours while talking to 5-10 different people to get the same answer as everybody else, "go to a dealer of the item and ask for a new item with this con number", sad excuse for warrenties that can cost up to $300. No one really cares about their job there, WORKING AT HOME DEPOT IS NOT LIKE IT IS PORTRAYED IN THE COMMERCIALS! No Home depot associate is an expert of anything, items are moved everyday to new locations, so noone knows where things are for sure, that is why we were instructed to always say "I THINK the product is..; or This product SHOULD work for your application". The corporation takes its profits so seriously, not only does each store have a high tech camera system with people watching (around the clock), but each store is equipped with its own thief catcher and interrogation room (double sided mirror are always installed). While working at home depot, more employees (management included) were a part of the drug trade than kids in highschool, yet a mandatory drug test is given to all applicants. Much more time was spent trying to get me into the drug trade than training me about paint or lumber products. Home Depot, The all american corporation that "cares" about its customers and their "individual" home improvement projects; Who don their orange aprons at the beginning of each shift with a smile. Ah Home Depot, I'll love it when it all comes back around and the truth about your greed is revealed... public execution may come back into style.

I worked at head office and quit. Was no better or worse than any other company. However, they laid off a bunch of people about a year ago..then at an all company meeting the president welcomes all new hires and tell them 'home depot is great; you'll never leave; you'll never leave."

YA RIGHT - UNTIL THEY LAY OFF YOUR ASS!

I was not laid off; I left on my own accord, but what bullcrap...they're nothing special. They lay off a bunch of people then 'put customers first'. ya right - how? with less employees? bastards.
