i think what the associates need to do is write frank blake a letter, stating all the f--ing shit that is happening in his stores. send it registered mail or certified, whatever one it is that HE has to accept. maybe when he gets the HUNDREDS of letters, from ALL over, each a duplicate of the previous, will he fully understand. Do you think that would be the best $5.00 ever spent?

The shoplifters know the returns policy well. They simply walk in, take the item from the shelf, walk to returns counter and get a merchandise credit. HD is essentially buying back their own products. My old store never pursued them, never prosecuted them and never followed up on the countless automobile tag numbers I supplied them. The laugh's on Home Depot.

to all the customers that shop at home depot. home depots return policy has become even more lax. if you see a product you like but dont want to pay that price, just tell the associate you saw it somewhere else for $15.00 less. no questions asked, no ad to bring in, nothing needed. if they say no, ask to see a manager. if you buy something, you can cut it, use it, break it, paint it, stain it, and bring it back. ive seen it with my own eyes. if returns gives you a problem, ask for a manager. if you are having a bad day and you don't get immediate help or didnt like how the associate said "GOOD MORNING", complain to your wife (who wasnt in the store), then have HER call the manager, and you WILL get that associate terminated. Oh, and after that, I hope you got your 20% off your purchase because of that. so the saying is true "the customer is alway right" even at the expense of an associates loosing their jobs.

Well seems like The Woodlands Home Depot has more problems. We must lead all of the other stores in criminal masterminds. An associate from the electrical department just got the boot for the embezzlement of 475k from his former employer before the Depot. Frank Blake you should have not fired this associate. Imagine what a asset he would have been if you had promoted him into corporate.

To anyone considering a 'career' with THD and wheather you are 18 to 80 please read this before
you jump in, and consider carefully.
The Number One thing is this: THD is a mega-corporation and there only reason for being is to
make money for the share holders and after that; THD management. You, on the other hand as a lowly
associate are placed well down on the food chain.
2. There's a reason HD has only 'associates' and no 'employees' and that has to do with the legal
machinations of always being referred to as an associate and not an employee. It probably means
that in some circumstances you give up some rights as an associate that otherwise you would not being a normal employee.
3. An associate friend I worked with at HD one time told me that THD is one of the biggest generators of complaints sent to the EEOC; along with Macys.
4. THD is structured and run along military lines: This simply means that if you mess up; you could be headed for real trouble. No bird of grace ever landed on THD! In fact, THD loves to hire ex military officer types for entry into their management training programs.
5. If you can do anything else or work anynywhere else, do that instead.
6. If, for some reason you become an associate try to respect the other associates and help one another. The 'old' guy working next to you may have been a world class engineer at one time and one of the pioneers of the internet (like the man I remember).
7. If you get written up for something, read and check the form carefully. Most HD managers have no problem whatsoever embellishing or out right lying about you, and what you did or did not do!!
8. Beware of cliques at the store you work at. Often, these consist of your sub-standard people covering for each other and if you are a clever, knowledgeable hardworking person they might attack you for putting them in a less than favorable light.

We will never deal with Home Depot again. Ordered on line, took two weeks to get a product this was in stock. We weren't happy with the quality, and asked for a return authorization number. No problem there. Service wasn't great, but at least they were willing to accept the return. Today we got an email message - that we can't reply to - saying that we didn't owe for the merchandise(was put on a credit card), but they kept the money we paid for shipping. Nothing we can't find any policy that says if you return a product, you don't get the shipping cost and GST back. I think it's poor business, they should tell you that in the first place. Oh yeah, we bought four of the same item, one of them didn't even work. Great. Still need to verify that we got a credit towards the charge on our credit card. I hope it's there.

TJ: I can concur with you 100%. Before being terminated for agreeing with a customer who stated he was going to Lowe's, I worked in the garden dept. I observed our cashiers never getting breaks and bathroom breaks. Not even to mention standing on their feet 5 or more hours at a time. HD is all about the bottom dollar and they don't care what they do or don't do to associates as long as they get the bucks from the customers. I imagine in 5 or so years, HD will be a thing of the past. By the way, I feel some of the ASMs and Store Managers lack proper management skills, experience and professionalism. I hope your job search goes rather quickly. Good luck!

I walked out of Home Depot last week after working there for 3 months as a cashier in the garden center. I walked out after being written up for being $9 short in my drawer. I do over 200+ transactions in an 8 hour period for over $10K. That is less than a penny a transaction. That was just the straw that broke the camel's back. Before that, I never got a break or even a bathroom break while being in the garden center. I never got change when I needed it either. I barely even got a lunch hour. Not to mention I could never get a back up cashier. They really treat their employess like slaves and that is really. I agree with everything that any employees says about working at THD.

How dare you people leave these horrible comments. I am the store manager in Kelowna and I have 2 kids at home. I rely on the 9 dollars an hour that I make here. It's the best job ever, I sit on my ass the whole day and choke back as many cigs as I can. I use to eat 4 Harveys Hamburgers a day but it has since closed because our store is not busy enough to support it....I guess everyone in our small town is getting to know how bad our service is! Oh well I will continue to do nothing more than collect a paycheck and smoke my cigs out the back door. Thank god for unions.

I'll never shop there again! We went to HD to inquire about geothermal heating and cooling. They gave us a number to call and set up an appointment for pricing. We did, and set 3 other appointments with other companies. HD's bid wasn't the lowest but we signed with them anyway to ensure that we had a big company backing.
We signed at the begining of April 2010. We were told they would install next week and to expect the duckwork and drilling guys to be calling and coming by in the next couple of days. A week goes by, nothing, two weeks nothing still! I finally get a hold of out HD sales guy and he says that he didn't start the install process because the tax credits changed and he assumed we didn't want the install because of the changes. He didn't even call, just assumed!
After talking it over we decided to go forward anyhow, they dropped $1000 off the price because of the $2250.00 error. Now we are told that the unit will be installed the last Thursday and Friday in April and our sales guy will come back over to get the new contract re-signed. He came back, we signed, as he's leaving he says "oh and we are going to tear down your wrought iron fence for the drilling" Are you kidding?!? No one ever mentioned this before, none of the other companies either. We were not happy. He says again that the driller and duct guys will be calling and coming by.
Wednesday morning before the Thursday install the driller stops by, after I called our sales guy to tell him no one has been here and we are two days from starting! Again, wednesday morning he stops by, no call justy shows up. lucky we are home. He says that he doesn't need to tear down our fence and the drive way will work. whew! what a relief! but... he says you will need to get smeone out here to cut down these huge trees. What?!? are you kidding?!? by tomorrow?!? How the heck are we going to be able to arrange this?!? I know a guy who'll do it, he says. I'm thinking this sounds odd. We refuse and suddenly, when faced with losing the deal, he says he can work around the trees. So we are back on.
Wednesday at 3:30 Brock, the duct guy comes over to take better measurements and prepare for tomorrow. We show him around and talk about what our sales guy suggested. He is cluless to the structure of the system and the extra we paid. He says that our sales guy doesn't know what he's talking about and that he will not install the system that way. We ask what he is purposing?? He is here over an hour measuring and coming up with solutions. He says he will get back with us tomorrow. (the day of the install, what?) He calls late Thursday and says he's posponed the install and the cost would increase by $4,000. Are you kidding?!!!!!? We have a signed contract wil HD that says we can't back out, why can you? Plus, our contract isn't with you it's with HD. I'm sitting here Monday with no heat/air and no answers or phone calls back. What a waste of time and energy.
Like I said I will not buy anything from these dishonest people again!

Home Depot CEO Blake's 2009 Total Pay Rises
Full story: ABC News
Chief Executive Frank Blake was awarded $9.9 million of total compensation in 2009, about 6.9 percent more than a year ago, according to a regulatory filing on Wednesday.
Something seems wrong in this article---UPS is hiring and their top seniority drivers make in excess of $100,000. Wonder what their ceo makes?
