Probably so......age discrimination. Have you noticed HD tends to get rid of the worker bees? Or the worker bees get fed up and quit. Here's a good one for you.....after 13 months I topped out at 8.97 an hour working my 53 year old ass off in Garden and Hardware. The top seller in both. Constantly getting Homer Awards (silver) for customer VOC's. Never had a complaint. Was fired by a temp store manager who, by everyone's accounts, is a total asshole. He then brought his boyfriend over from his old store to replace me. The temp manager is now the store manager where I used to work. ALSO, I found out that a guy that was hired 6 months before me, and doing the same thing, was hired in at 13 bucks an hour, whereas I was hired in at 8.75. And I was the one with two college degrees and a MASTER GARDENER certification from Clemson University. I never received master wages, such as the plumber who is getting 34 bucks and hour and didn't even know how to use the pipe threader. Oh well, Home Depot truly sucks......my knees are much better now that I'm not walking on concrete all day and lifting thousands of pounds of crap a week.

you are very right nell. the aware line is a joke. you use it and you are setting yourself up to be fired. there are no morales, no integrity, no respect from the management at hell depot. i was terminated after 6-1/2 years because a customer called and complained i was rude. i had a witness to say otherwise, but it didnt matter. gee i wonder how much of a discount that customer got for his purchase that day? i was an inventory specialist making 12.12/hour and over the age of 50 and was replaced by a female under the age of 25 who had been in that very position previously but was removed because she couldnt do the job. hmmm, that could be age discrimination, what do you think?

Calling the awareness line or the Associate Advice and Counsel line in Atlanta is a joke. They advise store management of your statements. I know this for a fact. I experienced the lack of concern when I was an employee of HD. I really don't think a union will fly because it seems most of the HD associates are temporary or part time these days. Many are just there to pay a few bills in their life and do not wish to make HD a career.

:mad:i work at the san pedro store.ive been here for a few years and it just seems like the poison of management is embeded to deep in the home depot.

i see spineless, worthless and unrespectable from DH's to ASM's and even SM's.they lie, cheat and dont have an ounce of humanity.

WE MUST BE HEARD.

i think if more of us(associates)use the aware line,hr's or corprate to let our concerns be known and stop taking all this abuse(i know its hard becaus of retaliation and job security)we still have to do it.

The manager at Ashtabula calls his women employees sluts, whores and cunts. When they report it to HR or regional manager they are told they are being over emotional. He tries to fire women that he jsut doesn't like. Their woman Assistant manager tried to stop it and now none of the other managers will talk to her, including the regional manager. The women manager has always been excluded from any knowledge or authority. It is a boys club. The corporate HR was notified about the name calling and sexual bias. And nothing. The manager writes up and tries to fire women for things they are told to do.A woman associate was told to throw stuff away but not take the markdowns. She was written up. after the write up the manager still would not let her take the markdowns for a month. He complains that they have no contractor business, but yet he will not meet any of them when they come in the store, and will not make any deals at all. Homedepot does not care about their employees at all, yet some of these people would do any thing to help the company, Its really hard to be cheery with customers when your called slut, whores and cunts and told to shut the fuck up all day.

:X I recently got a home depot card. I spent about $300 and I only got the card because they were offering 10% off if you applied for the card. I endured unbelievable hassles with getting some of the wood I'd purchased cut (their saw was temporarily out of order - 2 weeks). I won't even go into the paperwork nightmare they created.

I just received the first statement from them - they charged me interest. (So much for their 10% discount). When I called customer service, the chirpy girl advised me that I had previously received a statement and would I like a copy of that statement ... duh. So I closed the account. I swear I'll never darken their doorway again. These people have no idea what they're doing. Thanks for letting me vent.

To 'EndCap man',

The trick at HD is to work just hard enough that you won't be fired and they pay associates just enough so that they won't quit.

Most associates know that they will never get raises based upon how hard they work or their experience. The best anyone can do at THD is maybe 30 cents an hour no more; and some lame Homer awards.

Will never do business with HD again.

Always paid my credit card on time and always paid more than minimum. All of sudden they closed the account with no notice and I had to find out at the store when my purchase was declined.

What is with you people and your chronic whining? When I go to Home Depot the associates have a game where they walk the racetrack and the one that goes the most laps without helping a customer wins the jackpot. Other associates put merchandise in the overhead untill it drops to very low clearance prices and then they buy it for themselves or have a friend come in and get it. No one does any really hard work because they are too busy complaining all the time. Do your job for a change

We have a store mgr. at 1502 who abuses, degrades, and talks about employees. An hr who has no idea what the hell is going on, 90% of the employees.... if they thought they could get away with putting this guy in the hospital they would. This is going to be real funny until somebody does. What are you thinking Frank Blake unhappy customer!

I was terminated after almost 9 yrs at home depot May 17, 2010. I never knew what a pip was until last fall, and then i heard almost half the store was on one. Hmmmm let's see that means associates like myself didn't get a raise. More money in the mgrs pockets. I know Colorado is a right to work state but I didn't realize Home depot had the right to abuse, intimidate, and harrass associates. If I treated associates like the managers treat us, I would have been gone a long time ago. It never mattered in the past having an HR. At least ours was sooo far up the store managers ass, her nose was always brown. But the nice thing is, the more abusive you are, the faster you get promoted.after 17 yrs being with home depot, our arrogant etc, store mgr, is now being promoted to district mgr. He will now get pd even more money for being an even bigger asshole.and believe me he's got a big one. I can't wait till either the union comes in first or a class action lawsuit takes place. That's when i will know for sure we are empowered!! That's something those of you that r still working for hd and we ex associates need to get together and make it happen!!!

The company has lost 20 Employees in 3 weeks. Store manager "Corey" could not care less. Human Resources Manager "Tanya" falsifies employee documents if they quit. MOD "Shelly" has her daughter employeed at the store as an Associate and the kid gets away with doing nothing on her shift but visit fellow employees that are close friends - while customers suffer. The person who is in the Vault says the store would not run without her. These people need to be FIRED! Also, the kids who visit in the staffroom when they are to be on the floor serving customers needs to be addressed. Also, treating "Associates" that do work in a demeaning manner is TOTALLY irresponsible. HOME DEPOT NEEDS PEOPLE WHO KNOW HOW TO MANAGE - STAFF AND CUSTOMERS.

:-) I have been at HD 2302 for 9 years, before that 8 years at HQ (went out of business) and 3 years at Furrow before that. It's been my experience that if you work hard, avoid the "clicks" and if you don't like a manager, just wait it out , they will transfer him/her out and the next one may be better. My point is-ALL RETAL PLACES ARE THE SAME-the benefits are small, the raises are small and the work is hard. My store is the best job I have ever had. We currently have an awesome manager-we have gotten VERY good success sharing bonus checks for the last 3 quarters and HD's return to good customer service has increased the staff on the floor. No work place is perfect.

I took a look at the "Pics" link, and it made me lol. Why? Because almost all of those messes are created by YOU, the CUSTOMER.

You're trying to group everyone together into this whole "everyone who works at home depot sucks," but you couldn't be more wrong. There are thousands of employees who work their asses off at your expense. Yes, I'll lift 200 bricks while a 250 pound man who might as well be a body builder stands there and watches, and yes i'll smile at you even when you bitch about me not knowing something about a product (and find a manager or another employee to help).

Get off your high horses, probably 95% of you had a job similar to this.

"WHAT'S THE COMPANY CULTURE AT HOME DEPOT?" I found the culture to be dominated by yes MEN followers. No original thoughts, follow the orange leaders instructions & thoughts, do what you are told (right or wrong) and kiss a lot of butt. The only people with REAL upward mobility possibility are white, young, able to smirk, back stab with enthusiasm, and "lucky" enough to find a mentor. A generally deplorable management culture, Too bad, it could have been a fun job. p(-)p
